* Students wanting to register for a Level 2 and above class must be recommended by Miss Shannon. All students are placed according to ability, age and training.
** Students wanting to register for Lyrical Level 1 must have atleast 1 year of Ballet and/or Jazz technique and currently be enrolled in a Ballet class.
*** Pointe students are by recommendation only. Students must attend two ballet classes and two pointe classes each week.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND DRESS CODE
Predance & Tiny Tots Predance – This class is an introduction to Ballet, Jazz and Creative Movement. We help develop motor skills, body alignment and coordination by using our imaginations, creative games & songs. Any color leotard and tights and pink ballet shoes must be worn. Dance dresses and/or skirts are optional. Hair tied neatly off the face in a ponytail, braid or bun.
Kinderdance – This is a combination class introducing the fundamentals of Ballet, Jazz and Tap dancing. We will continue to emphasize proper body alignment and posture along with clean execution of movements. Any color leotard and tights, pink ballet shoes and black tie tap shoes must be worn. Dance dresses and/or skirts are optional. Hair tied neatly off the face in a ponytail, braid or bun.
Jazz Level 1 & Up – An energetic class that keeps you moving throughout. Jazz class consists of stretching, isolations, center floor work, turns and jumps. Students will develop muscle strength and flexibility along with discipline and self-confidence. Any color leotard and tights. Black split sole jazz shoes must be worn. Jazz pants are allowed over the leotard. T-shirts may not be worn. Hair tied neatly off the face in a ponytail.
Ballet Level 1 & Up - As the foundation of all dance, classical ballet is fundamental to a dancers education. Students will use exercises at the barre as well as center floor combinations to build proper posture, alignment, discipline and self-confidence. Ballet also helps improve other techniques of dance students are studying. Pink or black leotard with pink, black or white tights must be worn. Pink leather or canvas split sole ballet shoes must be worn. Hair tied neatly off the face in a bun.
Lyrical Level 1 & Up - This style of dance combines the grace and beauty of ballet technique with the fluidity and freedom of modern jazz to express emotions through body movement. Same attire as Jazz but students must wear dance paws. Hair should be worn at least half pulled back.
Tap Level 1 & Up - Using our feet students will learn speed, tempo, rhythm and clarity of sounds while learning steps like slaps and shuffles. We will explore Broadway tap as well as rhythm tap. Attire is the same as Jazz. Level 1 students need black tie tap shoes. Level 2 and above students need the "tap-on" tap shoes which has a buckle and a higher heel. Hair ties neatly off the face in a ponytail.
Hip Hop – A high energy class that teaches students the latest club and dance video choreography. Capri pants, jazz dance pants, tank tops, fitted t-shirts and leotards can be worn. Absolutely no shorts, jeans or baggy clothing in class. Students must wear black split sole jazz shoes or dance sneakers. Hair tied neatly off the face in a ponytail.
Breakdance - Open to all bboys and bgirls. Learn a variety of freezes, footwork, and some of the latest tricks as well as build strength using tumbling. Comfortable clothing, knee pads and sneakers may be worn for class.
